Hi guys,bartbakels wrote:Hi,
I also ordered mine. Anyone planning in integrating it into Homeseer 3?
thanks
Bart
I've created a raw format version of a HomeSeer 3 plugin for the Thinking Cleaner module. Probably will ask some beta testers soon.

For the 5 seconds I can play with it at the moment (bad battery in the roomba...) it works quite well.
The IOS App is nice with very clear instructions and sleek graphics. Setup is easy that way.
Do note that when you do setup through IOS you effectively are left with the thinkingXXXX SSID for the rest of the lifetime of your IOS device; hence if you can use a spare AP to fake that SSID so that you can remove it afterwards.
The device's webinterface (directly go to the IP) is great too.
And going to http://deviceIP_or_hostname_if_in_DNS/full_status.json is very informative.
While waiting for a new battery for the toy, it currently is reporting there:
Anybody can check what their values are? Note that the cleaner_status was "reconditioning" before this (about 16 hours).
Note that indeed instead of having just a few leds one now has human readable status of the roomba, VERY useful, no more decoding yellow-blinking-at-rate-strobe to whatever the real status is. Also one can see if the battery is going to be empty soon etc. Just for that almost the TC is already worth it IMHO.
Only real thing missing is IPv6, but that is a hard thing to fit in such a tiny device (though technically a IPv6 stack is smaller than an IPv4 stack... thus if we could choose...
Btw, do not forget to firewall away your roomba.... it does not have a cam but can wreak havoc if it goes on a run unexpected.

Restart thinking cleaner for the Roomba 700 and 800 series, I backed this one.

What i don't get is why the tone is quite negative with the new start.
But indeed, i'll back this one. Finally.

They haven't learned from last time

Re: Kickstarter Thinking Cleaner, WiFi for your iRobot Roomba
i don't understand why they need 85.000 to start,
the pcb is ready, it just the plastic case
(as far as i know)

Re: Kickstarter Thinking Cleaner, WiFi for your iRobot Roomba
They need to do a run of about 850 units for them to make it their while, thus that is about the 100/unit it costs.Akatar wrote:i don't understand why they need 85.000 to start,

Making a mold is expensive, thus you need to get a few runs out of it for it to be economically sound.
I'll note that my TC on a 650 is running fine, scheduling is much easier this way, just click in the app.
Only problems:
* sometimes it does not recognize that it is 'back', thus it then does fifty loops around the world in kilometers as it does not stop counting (bug reported, according to them the code is correct...) oh and that drains battery of course.
* if the roomba gets stuck and you forget about the thing and do not find it runs out of power and loses all settings, including wifi network. When it gets power again it will announce an open SSID without any password whatsoever. Thus anybody close to your house now has time to configure it and mess with it till you notice this..... fortunately it will just mean it is cleaning all the time; little else they can do and resetting is easy: just remove the faceplate for a bit (if you can catch the roomba that is.... wow they are fast... not

But definitely a worthy upgrade to have, if just for the scheduling.
Re: Kickstarter Thinking Cleaner, WiFi for your iRobot Roomba
sadly they wont make it again, but they did much less regarding the PR also......

Was controlling my Roomba for a while with Homeseer already, just through sending some http commands to it. This looks a little neater!
