its nice, but how does it know when you come back? it always transmits a x10 rf command then it seems?

I do NOT know anything about cars, but does the cigarette socket in a car get powered up and down when you turn on and off the ignition? Or maybe there's a voltage spike when you turn on/off the engine?
Bluetooth is what I would love to use for something like that.. Unfortunately I'm running HS2 in a VMWare Win2k Server. I have never been able to get bluetooth running in that VMWare machine.. (Any ideas?)

With Linux and the bluez bluetooth stack it's very easy. You can do an inq to see which Bluetooth addresses are in range, then you can try to connect and read the signal strength.

Indeed you need a connection to the switched power of the car ..... so far the power on the sigarete ligther is always on.
It is easy to build one based on the KR22 and with three 12V relays and two capacitors - you need access to the switched and permanent 12V power of the car.
Arriving - the carpower will be switched off so generated a short pulse to the on contact of a KR22 X10 RF keychain controller.
Leaving - carpower will be on and do the same to one of the off contacts of the KR22.
Henk.

Ask your dealer which connection is switched by the ignition. 100% sure there's some that could be used.

The BodyTag BT-002 is a very nice device but withe the minimum order of 5 it is not so cheap anymore. But still a nice solution.
-------------------
I put a Hawkeye MS13E X.10 device in my car. It works !
When I leave in the morning I see 10 times in the HS-logging:
date/time X10-received A5 (cellar TheoCar) A ON
So it works but stil many rubbish in the logging.
Possible solution is DOOMOTION but 50 dollar.
I put the MS13E in my car with double tape (ducktape). We thought our car was stolen during the night but the double tape went off and the MS13E felt down. Homeseer was speaking: "Car is leaving" in the middle of the night. I was sleeping but my wife went of bed !!
--------------
The VA "Vehicle Announcer" is exact what I need, Yes !(http://nwe.net.au/ha/VA.html) but for 2 cars total amount of 170 dollar. oeps......Very nive devices.
Perhaps I can built such a device with the KR22. I will give it a try.
--------------
THANKS FOR HELP !!

I have just installed the BT dongle on my VMware host
device is working perfect with the guest system (Homeseer)
I Have also installed the Bluetooth plug in for Homeseer.
This one is also working fine.
I can control events with my BT devices
OS: Windows XP SP2
BT Creativa 100 meter version (BCM2035 Bluetooth Single-Chip HCI Solution)
