New sunscreen module ZAX12 from Xanura

Post by Consultant »

Hi all,

Below the extended communication format for controlling the ZAX12

Format: l[1]nnddffl[1]nnddff
l = Lettercode AP
nn = Numbercode 0116
dd = Datafield 00h19h (0%=00h, 01h=4%, ...etc, 19h=100%)
ff = Functioncode

Examples: ZAX12: with motoraddress=A01, presetaddress=B05

Go to position SS:
A[1]01SS01A[1]01SS01 SS=00h19h (00h=OFF, 01h19h=ON)

Set preset to PP:
B[1]05PP02B[1]05PP02 PP=00h19h (recall with B05B05 BONBON)

Open all shutters on Letter Code A. Disregard the Unit code:
A[1]010004A[1]010004

Close all shutters on Letter Code A. Disregard the Unit code:
A[1]01000BA[1]01000B

Open all shutters. Ignore Letter Code and Unit code fields:
A[1]010005A[1]010005

Close all shutters. Ignore Letter Code and Unit code fields:
A[1]01000CA[1]01000C

New sunscreen module ZAX12 from Xanura

Post by Lennart »

Hi all,

I finally got around to installing two of these modules today and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised that it all worked on the first try using Homeseer. The info supplied by Pieter, zebrafilm & Consultant really did the trick. Thanks!

After a few weeks of use, there is room for improvement:

I am sending the extended command to the ZAIX12 using homeseer, the positions are fine when it goes from fully closed, straight to a position but when the roof is already somewhere in an "up" position and I want to lower it a bit, it overshoots.

Like from 0 set it to go to 20, brings it to 20, lowering to 10, closes it instead of going to the 10 position.

I guess there must be a more sophisticated way of checking the position and setting it right.
at the moment I use: i = hs.ExecX10 ("D10","Extended", pParams, 1)
(so sending X10 command Extended with value of pParams to X10 address D10)

I guess Consultant knows more about it and hopefully he can translate it for me to a HS command. (please) :-)

Did you try to recalibrate the module?

Recalibrate??? Thats new to me. as far as I know now are the positions from 0-25, how can you calibrate or do you mean the end stops?

mmm could be that sending it over the end stops, messes up the positioning, will test it.

Also thought about the fact that I use ON and OFF commands for close and fully open and the extended commands to set the middle positions. Maybe I should stick to extended commands for the fully open command. May be the ZAIX12 looses it reference when you give the fully open the standard way.
Will report back!

Thanks for the suggestion.

Just a short question for Zebrafilm: which brand sunblind did you use? Apparently not all brands electric screens/blinds can be used.

Does anybody have a Homeseer setup that I can have a look at? I'd like to purchase a Homeseer system but feel like seeing one in real life make all the difference.

thanks!

What it is steering shouldn't make a difference, it just a relais with counter I suppose. There is no physical feedback to the module.
I am using a (very heavy) Somfy motor to lift up a 5.5 meter long roofpart like in greenhouses.

off topic:
You can have a look at my system, no problem. I am sure others don't mind giving you a guest account to have a look either.
I just switched from a virtual server to an Asus EEE-PC with a SSD drive (netbook). Making it a very small and energy friendly system.

Great information here, helped a lot!

One question, is there a command which can be sent to the ZAX12 so it will tell you its current position (just like it does after you manually operate the ZAX12, with an extended data message)?

Sorry to bring this old topic up, but I finally managed to install my ZAX12. (need to install one more)

For some reason my ZAX12 is showing OFF when the sunscreen is down (needed when it's sunny). The ZAX12 is showing ON when the sunscreen is up (when it's raining).

I'm not sure if this is a programming error, a sunscreen instalation error, or if it's supposed to be like this.

I used the PMIX35 to program the unit, and it's got a K14 as motor address and K15 as preset address.
The fully opening (OFF) and fully closing (ON) do work fine.

When I send the command "&hs.ExecX10 "K14","Extended",1,01" the screen wiil open (sunny mode)
When I send the command "&hs.ExecX10 "K14","Extended",25,01" the screen will close (rain mode)

As you can see it's all reversed!

Thank you for the info.
Chak. What did you select in the option > Device Type for the ZAX12?
I have 'Support Status Request' and 'Uses Leviton Extended Data Dimming'.

If you only use it for fully up /down, you don't need to use the script.
I have made a new device in HS called ZAIX12 with exactly the same setting as you describe.
Works for a year now.
