I had the same question and asked Oregon Belgium (in Dutch):
Ik ben op zoek naar draadloze Temp-Hygro meters. Voor binnen ga ik type THGR228 toepassen. Kan ik dit model ook buiten gebruiken. Eventueel geplaatst onder een afdak zodat geen directe regen kan invallen. Ik heb ook gekeken naar model THGR328 maar beide hebben de tekst All weather.

Beide types zijn buitensensoren die ook binnen kunnen/mogen gebruikt
worden.
In English: Both sensors (THGR328 and THGR228) can be used outside.

I did not test the THGR928 but I guess it will be received. (if not you send me the sensor for analysis)

Hi All,
I'm also looking into temerature monitoring and triggering devices on temp/humidity.
Can anybody tell me/us the difference between oregon sensors and RFXcom sensors? What is the advantage or disadvantage?
My rfxcom tranceiver should work with both of them.

RFXSensor:
The RFXSensor can have up to 7 additional wired sensors connected,
Temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and A/D sensors,
The RFXSensor can be received by the W800RF32, (and of course by the RFXCOM receiver)
Transmits less RF signals then the Oregon sensors.
Oregon Sensors:
Cheap sensors with display,
All kind of weather sensors available,
These sensors can only be received by the RFXCOM receiver,
Transmit a lot of RF signals which increases the risk on collisions dramatically.
The RFXSensor can have up to 7 additional wired sensors connected,
Temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and A/D sensors,
The RFXSensor can be received by the W800RF32, (and of course by the RFXCOM receiver)
Transmits less RF signals then the Oregon sensors.
Oregon Sensors:

Hi Bert, or others,
Do you have more detailed information on the amount of RF signals generated by both systems? What are the periods of reporting or what is the difference factor (is it like 2:1 orso)? Also, what can be the result of the collisions? I understand that it means you won't receive a collided signal, but are the signals automatically repeated when they collide (by either system) or do you just have to wait for the next transmission? Is there a chance that (with a lot of sensors) at some point no signals get received properly?

Using multiple Oregon sensors:
Communication Failures will sometimes arise if you have 2 or more Oregon sensors of the same type and with the same channel selected. One or two sensors are sometimes not received for a period of a few hours. The reason is that they transmit during that period on the same moment. The interval time differs a very little bit for each sensor and the transmit period shifts slowly and at a certain time both sensors transmit on a different time again and are received again.
The solution is to select another channel on each sensor of the same type or use different sensor types.
Note: TEMP1, TEMP2 are different types but THR128 and THC138 are the same types as they are both TEMP1 sensors!
The THGR810 is a 10 channel sensor and you can use 10 of these sensors without having the Communication Failure due to sensor transmission overlap. An out of range is then the most expected problem. Don't install the sensors near metal objects because this can limit the range too.
It can still happen that sensors transmit at the same time when having different sensor types or different channels selected but not for a long period and Communication Failures will not appear due to this.

I'm using an Oregon RGR-918 rain gauge from Oregon, connected to my RFXcom receiver. This works great but I was wondering if its possible to reset the 'total rain' value to zero e.g. every first day of the month. currently it keeps counting up but I would like to see the total rainfall by month.
