Re: Toon firmware - update script
Check /qmf/log (on some toon which are running for years these logs are big).
But normally 5.0.4 should install fine (although it gets close to full disk during update). Not sure what the mininum free space is.

Oh oh.
I just used opkg remove --autoremove '*' and now it crashed.
Is there a way to recover the complete toon?
I think serial link will work, i hope.
thanks

Your only hope is to fully restore Toon with TFTP and NFS, if you know what that means?
Perhaps TheHogNL is so sweet to explain things to you .. I'm not going to share things if I'm not sure if i can

You will have to restore the entire rootfs, hoping that you can still backup your VPN for that.
Can you still get there with SSH?

Re: Toon firmware - update script
Tonight I tried updating Toon from 5.7.7. to the new version. It looked as if this was going allright (as usual), up to this point:
Now when I try to update again I get this message:
I attached the last part of the log (only today).
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Then everything stalled, and after a while Toon restarted.Tunnel is alive and configured.
Upgrade script downloaded. We need to download the upgrade files first. No upgrade is done yet. Do you want me to download the files (yes) or quit (anything else)?
yes
Starting the upgrade prepare option which downloads all necessary files. No upgrade is done yet.
Progress: 0% ..
Now when I try to update again I get this message:
I checked if there was a problem with diskspace, but I don't think so:Your Toon already tried downloading version Collected errors: before. Need to force this version!
iptables: Chain already exists.
Now starting the VPN tunnel and waiting for it to be alive and configured...

Quitting the upgrade. It was a nice try tho...
So then I checked the mentioned log. I see a lot of signature errors and download fails, but I can't seem to understand what's the problem.eneco:~# df -h

Re: Toon firmware - update script
Hmm that looks normal. Wasn't expecting that.
Did you reboot in the meanwhile? And did you retry the update again?
If it still doesn't work send me your mobile number in a PM and I will help you with this tomorrow around 20:00. I want to know where that weird error is coming from to fix the script.

Re: Toon firmware - update script
OK, yesterday I rebooted three times with no luck. Today I tried it again with no rebooting and it still didn't work.
then I rebooted (shutdown -r) and I tried it again.
Surprise: It works! The script started all over again (choosing version etc.) and it finished without any problems.
I'm very happy that the problem is solved now, but unfortunately I can't help you fix the strange bug from yesterday...
Thanks for your help anyway, I'm very happy with the script!
Regards,
Bart

Re: Toon firmware - update script
Hi, I just tried to update my rooted Toon but the script mentions that Eneco changed the updatescript... I choose to opt out of the update procedure since I'm not aware of the risk when I force the script to proceed.
eneco-001-137595:~# ./update-rooted.sh

Welcome to the rooted Toon upgrade script. This script will try to upgrade your Toon using your original connection with Eneco. It will start the VPN if necessary.
Please be advised that running this script is at your own risk!
Version: 3.991 - TheHogNL & TerrorSource & yjb - 1-8-2019
If you like the update script for rooted toons you can support me. Any donation is welcome and helps me developing the script even more.

Warning: upgrade script from Eneco server is changed. Do you want to continue downloading the files (if not sure, type no and report in the forums)?
Re: Toon firmware - update script
Thanks. I just checked the new eneco script and it is ok. I updated my script to allow this in version 3.992 of the script.abb wrote:Hi, I just tried to update my rooted Toon but the script mentions that Eneco changed the updatescript... Re: Toon firmware - update script
After some trial and error sessions in the last months when I had time, I figured out that this issue is resolved byTheHogNL wrote:/etc/passwd and /etc/group are files and should NEVER be links to busybox
you need to find out why it want to link it anyways
Code: Select all
opkg remove busybox.passwd
It is possible that when I rooted toon a year ago or so, that I installed a wrong/different busybox version.
Can't remember what I did and my notes are gone.
Toon functions again but it doesn't yet detect the smart meter so I'm not done yet with it I guess.
Re: Toon firmware - update script
Thanks! At the mean time I have checked the logging from previous firmware installs and I noticed thar there was an issue with available space. The amount of space requires was larger then the amount of space available. Looks like this message was also there In my previous unrooted firmware upgrade. Any tops on how to handle this?
