Alternatives to the Xanura modules?

Hi,

I tested 2 kinds of the Taiyito modules (TDXE4404 and a TDXE4403) and they work like expected. Status request is working (2-way communication), they look very solid and programming them was easy. The same functionality as the marmitek/xanura micromodules for less than half of the price

There is one disadvantage and that is the size of the modules They are 46x46x23 mm and the 23 mm thickness is much more than the xanura/marmitek micromodules. You can hardly call this a "micro" module.
I'm afraid I will have a hard time fitting them behind an existing switch.

When you order them directly in China almost all modules are below 10 euro. The only thing is minimal order quantity is 500 euro and you will have to pass customs.

Hi,

I installed 2 Taiyito modules and surprisingly they did fit behind my (JUNG) switches. They work without any problem...

I used the 2-channel modules so I can switch 2 lamp groups separately. The module cost me 28 euro. If I've done this with marmitek/xanura micromodules (I should have buy 2 of them) the costs were more than 100 euro. Let's hope they keep working for a couple of years

Did you check if they send out updated status when using the buttons on a connected switch ?

If this works I guess I need to go shopping on marktplaats to replace some broken xanura units.....

Yes the modules support status request.

For the record; The status isn't send at the moment you manual switch the button. You have to 'ask' the module it's status (this is called status request). This is the same for the expensive marmitek or Xanura micro modules....

You're right....

I tried it on a switch, from which I thought there was a xanura module behind it. And it did not update the status, but I could do a status request. Then I tried it on another one and this one did an update immediately.

So the Taiyito do support status request, but don't send the update themselve.

Thanks PieterPaul, I should have done some more testing before I took my conclusion.

Thanks Rien. Not the answer I wanted to hear, but least we know the functionality now. I don´t want to be polling all my switches all the time.

But as actors they are still pretty good value for money.

If anyone is looking for some more `volume` for ordering directly with the manufacturer, let me know please. I could do with about 10 as actors (types TBD).

@ homeseer users. what device type are you using in homeseer to control the Taiyito dimmer ?

Does it support leviton or direct dimming or should I just set it as a standard dimmer supporting status ?

I have just received a bunch of Taiyito products but couldn't figure them out as much as I tried. As you know the manuals are absolutely useless and I need your help as you seem to have managed to configure their products.
Basically the most trouble I am having is with the 48 key LCD remote and the RF transceiver (TDXE6648+ and TDXE6438+) and also with the programming of the micro-modules.
Any info you can provide would be great. If you can refer me to some similar manuals that I can use that'd be great too...

Hi,

Currently, I have the following modules installed and working:

TDXE 4401 : Lamp dim modules
TDXE 4404 : Appliance/lamp micro-modules (controls 2 low power appliances)
TDXE 4202 : Appliance/lamp micro-modules (2200W)
TDXE 6436 : X10->IR
TDXE6648+ and TDXE6438+ : encrypted remote and receiver (with the receiver you can also control other X10)

Also have some scene modules, but don't use them.
You can also use the remote to check the modules status (it has a LCD display).

Of course, as with almost everything Chinese, the instructions/manuals are a real puzzle. You must have some experience with Domotica/Electricity/DIY.
