Hi all,
Does anybody know a source of cheap power efficient adapters? I've been looking at the offerings of Conrad, but efficiency is not something that is always obvious from the specs. And many adapters that I think are power efficient are in the 20 to 30 Euro range, which makes the Plugwise solution not that weird (it will be hard to find an adapter with a less than 0.2W idle consumption, I think), unless you accept the 3.5 W loss.

I have some adapters at home.
almost sure they are okay...will test them first and put the results online.

After replacing the original power adapter with next one on the picture
idle consumption dropped back 0,6 watt
max usage when active was 5,9 watt..this will be different per situation depending on the size and weight of your curtains
This one will work but it's better to use a one with 800mA

It's a camera adapter
I'm also using the same one for my led G4 lights
can't find the same back..I think they are all same.

@Chak: thanks for measuring and the Conrad product numbers. Regarding these products: I can't find anything on efficiency and idle consumption in the specs. Did you verify this somehow?

I hope that Pieter can tell use more next week..
For the adapter that i have tested usage was 0,4 watt when nothing connected. for the original Harrison adapter is that 2,3 watt
if you are going to order at conrad
check the next url for additional discount of 7,5 euro..when total amount is more than 25 euro also no shipment cost.

Go to the Conrad site and select the "Stekker-schakelnetvoedingen, vaste spann"
There are several brands switching powersupply's with high efficiency level.
See the pdf with the specs. I have ordered PhiHong 12 volt 2.5A for connecting more devices to it and some other small 12 volt for Harrison etc.

Hunt is going on...
Almost 10 watt usage in standby for my Auping bed motor
thats 85 Kw per year
When I want to use it .I have to switch it on with the remote IR7243 what is already there..for Homeseer control
On command will trigger a event what will turn on Plugwise plug for two minutes.

Today I replaced all the inside components of one of the living room lights.
It was 36 watt TL what was using about 40 watt
Replacement components 2,40 meter led strip + 12 volt 1,5A adapter.
usage is now 12 watt
There is not so much light as the TL but it's okay for what I was looking for.
year saving is +/- 60 Kw

Replaced my old 3Com 5 port GB switch with new Green Dlink version
DGS-1008D
The new switch is using <4 watt with 6 ports in use.
Old one was using 12 watt after replacement of the power adapter still 8 watt.
I can add extra 40Kwh per year to my saving list
ROI is 4 year.
Next saving project is replacement of my 15 year old washing machine.
This will be a Energy label A++

Hunt for saving is started again.
I have 3 X 12 Volt device in the "Meterkast"
FritzBox 12 volt usage 9 watt
Lava Device Server 12 volt usage 3 watt
Ziggo cable modem 12 volt usage 6 watt
Just installed 12 volt 2A adapter and connected FritzBox and Lava device server
Total usage with the new adapter 8,2 watt. Less than what Fritz only was using
Later this weekend I will also connect the Ziggo modem to the same power adapter
