yes, this is the mail from my supplier (dutch)
Hopefully everything stays OK now!

I see.

I have a big server move this friday. I will need to move 4 servers from one datacenter (telecity) to an other datacenter.
Lets hope all will go as planed for me.
I've been in the stress about this move for some time now :/

I can understand, always stress!
I just replace my Dell precision 650 with a new Dell T3400 for Bwired...It's always in the details.
BTW: your Avatar is not always online!

Just make sure you do not move them all at once.

When we finished a large migration/consolidation project the new servers were moved individually, using several trucks, from one datacenter to the other.

Nodes from the same clusters were not moved at the same time. Only when the first node was up and running would we move the second node. We also had the added extra failsafe of having all the old equipment around (servers / SAN), so in case the new equipment would not work we still had the old location with the old servers in standby.

And do not forget, the backup server / tape-robot are the last units to be moved to the new location!<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally posted by wifi</i>

In my case I will need to move them all at once :/
It's not really the hardware move that I'm worried about, but more the settings. I will need to change things like DNS, routing tables and IP's.

All servers are running Linux, and as I've set them up some time ago, I have lost the feeling for this stuff.

The Avatar not working is correct. This is caused by preparation for the server move. When all is done the avatar should be back on line.
