Complete LED package for Home

Post by etmmafl »

Hi guys (girls???),
I'm new on this forum but I could not find a clear cut answer to my needs.

I'm looking for RGB LED lighting for my room. I need about 10 to 20 meters of LED strips that will be mounted near the ceiling.

I have some difficulties finding what I need due to a lack of knowledge.
If possible, can some one tell me what I need to light up my room?

I'm looking for RGB Ledbars, Leb bar mounting material, RGB controllers, Power Supplies.

What will a setup like this cost? Is is even possible to have 20m of Led Strips and how can you mount this to a wall in a very nice way?

any experience with that?

Have a look here: http://www.ledtuning.nl/catalog/ledstrip_calculator.php

You could buy:

LED strip Full-color, RGB (12V, 30 LED's per mtr) --> 38,95/meter so that'll cost you lots of money :)
12V/24V 3x5A DMX 512 Decoder&Driver&Controller --> 66,50
Voeding Inbouw, 12V 12.5A 150W --> 54,00

When you'd like more control over the lights you also need a seperate dmx controller, I'm using the LAN-DMX STAGE-PROFI (200 euro) from http://www.thewillows.nl.

There's lots of info on the ledtuning site so you can educate yourself a bit there. I'm a noob and I got it to work :)

let's see,

If I buy:
20m * LS12RGB30I13, LED strip Full-color, RGB (12V, 30 LEDs per mtr) = Euro 740,-

Then the calculator show I have the following:
Working voltage in Volts = 12V
Current per meter in Amps = 0.8A
Total current in Amps = 16A
Total power of the LED-strip = 192W

I guess a:
1 * DMX24V3DR15, 12V/24V 3x5A DMX 512 Decoder&Driver&Controller = Euro 49,90
will not be sufficient to drive all LED's due to the maximum of 5A per channel.

Are there any Decoder&Driver&Controller which can support this amount of Amps?

The power supply will be OK.
1* PS12V20A250I12, Power Supply Open-Frame, 12V 21A 250W = Euro 69,00

So now I have to mount this against a wall. Do you guys know any material that can be used to mount these strips to a wall and make it aesthetic?

The led strips are like tape, you can just tape em against the wall or something else. Just make something against the ceiling to put the strips under to hide them from direct view and glue them under.

You can also use 2 DMX decoders and put 10 meters on each. If you give them the same DMX address they will change colors/dim together. Or you can use different addresses to have different settings for each strip.

I just noticed "HERO-LEDStore.com", does anyone of you have experience with them?

I'm interested in their "6 Meters LED Flexible Light Strips 3-chip smd RGB CRYSTAL RIBBON Waterproof"

Escpecially the "Waterproof" coating on it sounds nice. If I use this in the home and i Need to clean it a "Waterproof" surrounding is the way to go

I'am in the same situation as etmmafl. I need 16,5 meters of RGB led strip, and I don't now a great deal about leds and quality etc.

I will use it for cove lighting on the ceiling in my living room. I have boxed down the roof at the sides so the main ceiling is higher up. I have used a profiled wood liste around where I will hide the led strip behind. It will then hopefully light up my ceiling.

Here is some links I have looked at:

http://www.led1.de/shop/index.php?cPath=92

http://www.hiline-lighting.com/pd-rgb-led-strip.cfm

http://www.oznium.com/led-ribbon

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/ ... oduct=BARS (the xFLS-RGB150)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/65-RGB-LED-Cove-L ... m153.l1262

http://www.ledtuning.nl/catalog/product ... cts_id=327

I have only max $2000 bucks or 1250 euros to spend on this.

I would like an easy setup with not to many power supplies and controllers etc.. But I would like to have dimming and remote controlled system.

And where should I put all the accessories that is needed, such as controller and power supplies. My roof is finished with two wires hanging out that is going down to the button. I guess I need to rewire this to get it to work. Maybe I could make a controller "room" on the other side of the wall??

I have a solution for you cost about 400(including the shipping cost) to finish this project, here is the product you need;
LED strip Full-color, RGB (12V, 30 LED's per mtr)
12V 30A RGB controller with remote control, 12 kinds color effect and control less than 40 Meters RGB strip;
12V 30A power supplier, nonwaterproof,
For installation, you can use some clip to firm the strip on the wall;
I think you can think about it, if you have any more questions, you can send e-mail to me , my mail:bruce8@yeah.net

A simple price indication
RGB strip with White PCB background , so the light will reflect on the background and not absorbing
( normal way is brown pcb )

with clue cover so , the strip will be water restitent. The price will be at 30,- /meter
When you buy a reel the price will be lower , when you buy more reels the price can even be lower

a power supply 12 volt 4 A will be at 15,=

We made a dession not publish pricing in the website but only after contact with the customer so we can give a good / fair advise.

Regards,
Marco
