To introduce myself

Post by mories »

Hi All,

I would like to let you all know that as a Domotica newbie I really like this forum. It is a very good source of information.

I've been wanting to implement domotica in my house for a long time, and finally the moment has come.

We live in a "rijtjeshuis" in Zeewolde, and we're almost finished extending our livingroom by an 2,5 meters, and upgrading the rest of the first floor.
And domotica will be applied in the process. [:D]
I am/will be using an Asus EEE Box, RFXCom, Homeseer and HSTouch on a 10 inch touchscreen built in the wall.
A harisson curtain rail will be ordered later this week.
To start the with the lighting I will be using some affordable (cheap) kaku devices. But I think I will switch to Xanura soon.

This was my introduction for now.
Greets,
Mories

Oh, and by the way. Do we all have ICT related jobs ? I am, and I know some of you are..

Welcome to this forum.

Your product choice is good.
For the HSTouch there are few days left for the $100 discount.

Zeewolde is a nice town....my town for few years..:)

Welcome on the forum. A lot of people here are indeed related to IT in one way or another. You chose the right moment to integrate that screen into the wall. The gear list sounds good but like Chak said, if you want HStouch try to buy it before the end of the month, only four days left on that discount... And that'll be another 100$ you can spend on a couple more KAKU's ;-)

Happy shopping,
Esteban

Hi Mories, welcome to the forum.

I just noticed that I have never properly introduced myself either, so I'll try to do that now.

I myself am a domotica newbie as well. For me it has to be 'plug and play' since I don't feel confident programming or using a solder. We live in a newly build home in Berghem (close to Oss).

I am using homeseer on a dedicated domotica/NAS pc (intel atom + external hd) which I installed in my metercloset. I use the Marmitek CM15 for controlling the lights and have a mixture of xanura and marmitek receivers/transmitters. In the same metercloset is also a visonic alarmsystem and the rfxcom receiver. In that way I can nicely integrate the oregon or visonic sensors in my homeseer.

The main interface for me is the homeportal (from jon00) wich combines the above together with a cam and some weathercharts. My newest feature is the shoppinglist wich allows us to create the list in the homeportal and read it on our celluar phones. My wife loves it.

On my domotica wishlist is the RFXmeter for the utility meters, a oregon weatherstation and a wireless camera. In my professional life I work in IT for a large utility company in Den Bosch.

Greets,
Ronald
