Alphatronics Visonic Wireless PC Interface

Post by Digit »

Some time ago i received a new interface i had never heard of or had seen before, made by Alphatronics.
It's called a Wireless PC Interface and it can be used for receiving 868 MHz Visonic Powercode and CodeSecure transmissions.
With this interface i can receive all my Visonic sensor i have, Keyfobs are received very good as well.

Here are 2 pictures of the Interface:

Some details:

Connection : RS-232, 9600,8,N,1.
Number of sensors supported : unlimited
Power supply : 12V DC
LED indicators : COM and Power

A very nice feature of this interface is that every received packet comes with information about the signal level, so you know exactly how good (or not) a specific sensor is being received.
I've made some charts of these signal levels here: http://www.hekkers.net/domotica/SensorS ... harts.aspx
Some sensors are always received very good like the front door, others sometimes show strange 'dips'.

I got the interface from Waakzaam Wonen (http://www.waakzaamwonen.nl), so if you're interested i would suggest to contact them for more information.

There is also a HS Plugin available for some time now. Pieter and i have tested the plugin, but it wouldn't hurt increasing the number of testers and possibly get valuable input for more functionality. So if you're interested just let me know.

IS the protocol from this interface protocol documented? I very much want to add this unit to our series of VSCP drivers.

People who have the interface and are interested in the Plugin can contact me. I am especially in need for someone to test the plugin while connected to a "real" serial port, since both Pieter and me only tested with Ethernet connected interface.

The Plugin can handle both serial and ethernet connected interface. (but not both at the same time [:)])

@Ruud: you are right, keyfobs are received very well. I have an avent triggered by the aux button on my keyfob to open the garage door; it has never missed yet. Actually i'm going to replace the remotes belonging to the garage door and which are operating at 433 MHz, by a Visonic Keyfob. That makes me feel more secure, cause by doing that i can remove all learned remotes from the garage door opener's memory, and reduce the chance of unwanted opening of the garage door by 'false positives' to 0. That happened to me 1 time; 1 time to much [:(!].

@akhe:
At this time i don't feel at liberty to reveal any details about the protocol. A free, closed source HS plugin will be available soon.
