Control Duwi plug with Duwi wall switch and with HS(Aeon)

Post by Geert »

Hi all,

I just started with playing with Z-Wave devices from Duwi. I read a lot on this forum, seeing similar post from other users but just can't find out how to do next thing:

I have a Duwi plug 05437 which I want to:
1 - control localy (always possible with button on plug)
2 - control directly with a Duwi wallswitch 05443
3 - control with Homeseer (via Aeon labs USB stick)

I can get #2 working (as described on page 13 Duwi manual) but then I can't get the plug included on the Aeon USB stick anymore so I can't get it into homeseer to use #3

Also I can get #3 working by first including the plug onto the Aeon labs USB stick, then "import device" in HS setup. But then I can't get the wall switch included/associated with neither the Aeon stick or the plug.

I think william.abbo did what I want but I just can't get it done. See http://www.domoticaforum.eu/topic.asp?T ... Terms=aeon and http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.ph ... post882460

Questions:
1) Can I control the plug the way I want (so with 2 controllers, I think it can but I'm not 100% sure).
2) Do I need to first include both the plug and the switch with the Aeon stick, and if yes how can I include the switch with the stick? Or do I first need to set up the plug and the switch and then try to include the stick (primary and/or secondary controller?).
3) Can someone (william.abbo?) explain what william.abbo did?

Note:
I know that it is (still) impossible to trigger HS events with the switch...

Thanks for any help,

GO

What I did first:
Added the Duwi plugin-mod to HS.
Then added the wallswitch to HS (as I described on the HS-forum)

Take a look over here:
http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.ph ... post882460

Then associated the switch with the plugin, not via HS, but straight into the plugin-mod.

Hopefully this will help you, because it can be done, i have 2 wallswitches over here working like you want it.

Good luck!!

It's a challenge to let it work with HS.
But works great..when done.
To bad there is no change for triggering events with the wall switch

Willem can you see the battery status in HS?

Chak,

I just installed the latest beta 2.3.0.136. I still can not see the batterystatus in HS, although HS gives some more info now. I will see to this tomorrow. What I did discover is that the Act-modules now give a instant status-update in the logfile, they didn't before. So there is hope for the Duwi-batt. switches.

QEES ring/wall with firmware 1.1 can control scenes on Vera. So they should work in Homeseer too. (But they are "only remotes")

I'm running 2.3.0.137 don't see any detailed info..need to rescan the switch

Sounds good that Act is doing instant status update...only problem with Act is the quality of there products.

@ william.abbo

But did you first include the wall switch to the stick with the stick decoupled from the PC or did you just press de replicate
send button in HS followed by a 2sec press on the incl button on the wall switch?

I just can't get a generic controller into HS....

Or should I "clear/reset the switch" to factory status first? (How?)

Thanks again!

Yes, it's finaly working!

A reset to factory defaults for the switch was needed to get it included and replicated with the stick.

So this is wat I did:
1) Reset the wall switch to default (page 19 on Duwi manual: 5 sec pres on Exclude, followed by 3 presses
on/up and 3 presses off/down)
2) "include and replication" the wall switch to the stick (with stick decoupled from PC, didn't try the HS button), see page 26
of duwi manual (press button on stick, followed with 2 sec press on incl button on switch)
3) Connected stick to HS. An aditional node with name "generic controler appeared in setup/interfaces/node info
4) Pressed "import devices" into HS under manage. A generic contoller is now also visible on HS status page
5) Then I added the node (already programed in HS) to be switched/dimmed to the wall-switch: pressed the up button 3 times on
the switch and then 3 times on the node.

Thanks william.abbo!

@Chak
Can not retrieve the batt.status from the Duwi, during a polling HS says it is 'not pollable'. About the Act-modules I have'nt had any failures till now, the possitive thing about these switches is that you can fully configure them.

@William: Instant status-update is a feature which was available on some type of act Z-wave devices of a newer revision. However, Act has disabled this feature in later revisions due to a patent problem with Leviton (this is what I read at the Homeseer forum). Therefor I'm very curious which ACT devices you use that do a status-update (only wall switches or also on/off and dimmable plugin devices)?

@tailwind
What you can configure:
Association group 1,2,3,4
Ignore start level bit when transmitting
Ignore start level bit when receiving
Suspend group 4
Night light
Fully adjust dimrate and speed
Shade control fot group 1,2,3,4
LED transmision indication
Polling group 1,2
Polling time group 1,2
A lof of info above, you'd better download the PDF's from the Act-site.

I'm using the ZDM230 and the ZTM230. I have not fully tested them with the latest beta yet but it looks like the ZDM230 is someway supporting the instant status.
