ZRP Multiple Properties
ZRP Multiple Properties
Hello,
I have a small network at home on our 2 levels house and I use Homesser to control the 13 ZRP230 Appliance Devices .
The controler is an HomePro RS232 Computer Interface ZCS201 and I have also an HomePro Wireless Controler ZTH200.
I do not understand that the Device Properties of the ZRP230 are different, considering that they are the same plug that I purchased within a year.
See my enclosed file to understand what I call Device Properties.
How to modify them
What are the correct properties which apply to the ZRP230
Aklso why for the kitchen I get this Unknow satus often, that I can clear by doing ON/OFF in Homeseer , the kitchen is close to my other rooms, I do not have thick concrete wall to stop the HF and in these other rooms I do not have this error message.
Thanks for your advice
Patrick

Re: ZRP Multiple Properties
Hello,
This is another message I never got a reply.
What I am doing wrong for this .
Are my questions so special ?
Best Regards.
Patrick.

Re: ZRP Multiple Properties
Normally, when someone can help, he/she will reply. I'm no Z-Waver so i can't help you.
I think it's better to assume that the combination of hardware, software and the problem you describe is unknown and nobody has a clue how to help you...

Re: ZRP Multiple Properties
Are you optimizing your network?
You need to do that at least 3 times after adding a device.
Also schedule network optimization every night.
You will find that in zwave management screen

Re: ZRP Multiple Properties
It's getting stranger every time, "Network Health and optimization" and scheduling every night ?
are we going back in time..... or am I missing something

Re: ZRP Multiple Properties
Pieter, you read my mind
To me it sounds like disk defragmentation, registry cleanup, server reboot in the weekend, backup and all those other things you don't want to be bothered with (as a user).
Just like the >100 euro lux sensor i saw recently. I hope it doesn't have to be polled also. Where is this going to...

Re: ZRP Multiple Properties
thats part of mash network..
zigbee and plugwise also do that.
For finding the fastest path to your devices you need to optimize.
else your network maybe responde slow.
WHY?
There are lot of other wireless devices that can interfere and make some paths not accessible.
Optimized network will know the alternative fast path..

Re: ZRP Multiple Properties
Poll is just question of money.
In Zwave protocol there is also option for instante update.
ACT_ZRM230 is doing that.
I think other problem is Homeseer that is not picking up the status changes.
see the next two examples.
Act is working fine when it's associations to Homeseer
Duwi is not updating the status with the same config.

Re: ZRP Multiple Properties
IMO a commercial and expensive product like Zwave should not burden an end-user with this kind of issues. That's ridiculous, as if no lessons have been learned over the years. I would expect more. And FWIW: i don't have it nor need it.
Polling is not a question of money, but of design. Polling is OK on a micro-level, as in at the sensor itself: i can understand that a MCU needs to poll a PIR sensor to detect a change in voltage level that indicates motion. What i do not want, is a Domotica system polling all the devices attached to it. And that's what seems to be happening with zwave. But correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: ZRP Multiple Properties
Here's an example of a self healing/optimizing network. Since a few hours one of my XBees is using a different route to my coordinator, resulting in better (last hop) signal strength (remeber, this is a decibel y-scale):
I took a look what had happened and saw that this node (XBR4) changed its parent to node XBR2, where it used to be node XBR3:
I did nothing.. nor did my system; it just happens. That's how it's supposed to be.

Re: ZRP Multiple Properties
Zwave is doing the same.. Optimize is just for the speed.
Since zwave is a very low voltage transmitter there is no constant connection.
Zwave transmit with 1mW
I'm not surre what the power of Xbees is.
Zigbee is transmitting between 20mW - 1W (868mhz is low 2.4Ghz is high)

Re: ZRP Multiple Properties
Zwave does the same? then why the need of scheduling network optimization. That was what my post was about in the 1st place.
Since XBee is a low voltage transmitter (battery powered) there is no constant connection.
XBee transmit with 1.25 mW
I'm not surre what the power of zwave is.
Don't know where you got those 1000 mW numbers from, but they are totally wrong; that's 1000/10 = 10.000 % wrong.
For a Zigbee network completely made out of PRO modules that is; that percentage will only get higher if you also use non-PRO modules that are especially designed for battery power.
Now if you reread your own post and replace Zwave with XBee, you read what you have to say about Zwave in my post here about XBee/Zigbee. How strange
.
Although, the other way around doesn't work that well.
Well, never mind, let's stop this discussion, i think it's just a Homeseer issue.
Wait for the next update or fixed ticket or so, maybe they'll fix it some day.
Does a thing like Vera also require you to schedule network optimization or is it a built-in feature there perhaps.
Oh and BTW:
Don't think i'm a Homeseer basher, y'all have lots of fun with it, but i just don't like things being presented as if they are "normal" or "good practice" when they are not!
Sometimes it's good to ask the why question and being given a solid answer.
