Lot's of us use the Visonic sensors (like MCT-100 and MCT-302) also for Status of devices.
The nice thing about these sensors is that they are reliable and have a heartbeat.
The status is send every 15 minutes regardless of status changing.
You can tweak this to 3 minutes by just not closing (disabling) the tamper switch.
So keep the tamper open and the status will be reported every 3 minutes.
Just ignore the sabatage in your software.
It could be handy for some devices to have this setting.
So the sensor can not be connected to the Visonic alarm panel otherwise you get a sabotage alarm

Would be a nice car indicator.. 3 minutes is pretty quick. (and you can hook it up to the battery of the car, doesn't use that much anyways..)

Re: Visonic Sensor Tweak for heartbeat rate
Yes, but only 1 thing, where do i put the oregon sensor on the motorbike.. hmmm...
Tried to put a oregon in my gf's car, but she is across the street most of the time with the car, and the rfxcom doesn't reach that far even though i have one of those bigger antenna's..
p.s. i timed it, my oregon sensor actually send a heartbeat after 40 seconds, so you can even lower it more perhaps.

Re: Visonic Sensor Tweak for heartbeat rate
Since my mailbox was not done yet, i decided to test it out too.. with a visonic..
Dirty quick way though...
But now the bad part.. it works.. i tested the sensors and all. But then i close the mailbox, and it works 50/50 most of the time. Basicly because its a all metal mailbox it doesn't like it
Anybody has a idea on how to solve something like this? Or do you know if i can re-attach the antenna of the mct-sensor to a more "outside" place via a cable of some sort?

That's a problem
You can try to extend the antenna with a little wire outside the mailbox
Or place the Visonic outside the mailbox where it can not be seen.
