Control Z-wave from Beo4

Post by herwin »

Hi,

I'm ready to start my Domotica home.
I have a homemade Linux NAS running 24x7 with I want to use as main server.

after a search i think i start with Z-wave and not with any X10 device.

I have one question wich i could not found on the Internet. Can i use my Beo4 remote to control the lights?
it has a dedicated Light button.

Thanx for the answers.

The Beo4 uses infrared (as far as I can find information on that thing)
So you should use some IR converter and pick that up on your Linux NAS.

If you can find some Innovus Smartdimmers somewhere (Innovus is no more), they can be controlled by B&O IR and Z-Wave.

I don't know if you can specifically use the 'LAMP' button for something useful on the B&O remote. But you should be able to buy or build something that receives the 'special' carrier frequency (higher than normal IR devices) that is used by the B&O stuff and thus all the button presses it emits.

Maybe you can have a look at LIRC:
http://www.lirc.org/receivers.html

Remember, that although you will be able to use the remote, you can only use it in the places that have an IR receiver in the room.

Good luck

Hi,

The server is not near the living room so the Lirc is not an option.
I have found this unit: BossDim RS (http://us.bosscom.com/product.asp?id=1009) wich act as a Z-wave routing Slave.
The question i have, can i see the signals from a routing slave on the controller in my network? If so, i can do what i want, control the light from my Beo4.

Thanx

That is a picture of an Innovus Smartdimmer. It is another name, but the device picture is Innovus.

It is a good device, but Innovus is long gone.

You don't need anything more to control your light with a B&O remote.

I actually don't know if it reports back to all controllers. I does to mine, but mine is a Innovus House Control.

You can control it from your controller, and if activated by your controller it will report back, but I don't know what happens when activated by IR.

Morten
