RFXCOM compatible Temp sensor with probe

Post by psmaaswinkel »

For my home domotica project I am in need of a temp sensor with external probe which can be received by the RFXCOM receiver.
In the past we could nuy a oregon THC138 but there no longer for sale...

Is there any other option to use???

Regards,

You can use the RFXSensor with external water tight sensor:
http://www.rfxcom.com/sensors.htm#40066
http://www.rfxcom.com/sensors.htm#60015

You can connect up to 7 external 60010,60011,60015 or homebrew DS18B20 sensors to the RFXSensor.

Note: These are the very last, no new batch RFXSensors will be produced.

Thanks for the response Bert,

I have read the information regarding the RFXsensor, but as far as I can see the accuracy is at best 0.5 degrees.
Because I want to monitor my fish tank and homevac unit I would need an accuracy of at least 0.2 degrees.
With the response of the sensor I need to control heating in the fishtank, and control my homevac input selection.

It it possible to get a modified version which sents a transmission on a change of 0.1 or 0.2 degrees?

Regards,

The DS18B20 has an accuracy of 0.5C and this sensor reports in steps of 0.5C
The DS2438 is also supported but has an even worse accuracy of 2C. The RFXSensor reports this sensor in steps of 0.125C but only temperature changes of 0.5C are reported. It would need a firmware change to do the reporting with 0.125C changes.

The firmware of the RFXSensor is frozen. Maybe a good point to implement smaller steps in a future design.
