How to initiate new KaKu AC-1000 using RFXCom and Domotiga

Post by OWK »

I now own a RFXCom LAN Tranceiver (11201), but can't get my head arround initiating an new KaKu AC-1000 device for testing. This AC-1000 unit must be under control by Domotiga using RFXCom LAN Tranceiver.

Should the initiating be done with RFtransmitter.exe, using the AC tab? If yes, which fields to use for the address C10 in this case there are 4.

Tried in domotiga the RFXCom commander (Tools menu). Sending C10 On in the 'AC/HE UK' tab with 'AC code' field empty shows below text in debug, but no result.
[RFXComTX] 214000001900
[RFXComTX] ACK=>33

Any help is welcome!

Following up I tried to initiate a new KaKu device (ac 1000, resetted) using RFXMitter software AC tab, with HE checkbox off, but did not succeed. The KaKu device does not confirm receiption.

Two questions:
1) Just took address 1 00 00 00. Is that correct for KaKu?
2) Used unit 1 is that correct for KaKu?

Switching X10 is fine using RFXMitter software (X10 lightning tab), ruling out LAN communication and receiption by the X10 unit in the same room.

I have a feeling this addressing is not correct for Kaku.

Anyone with tips?

Folowing up again, It's a matter of rtfm

The Kaku unit under test was not in program mode (slow LED flash) but reset mode (fast LED flash), thus ignoring a code send by RFXcom or Domotiga.

Also used a AMST-606 door sensor and RFXCom receiver to verify adressing of a KaKu device and its clear now it contains 7 digits. I guess that unit (1-16) allows 16 devices on the same address.

I don't understand though why a AMST-606 needs sendig 31 times the same state change. I imagine that domotica software is overloaded with this number of messages.

Thanks for listening :D

Advice: do not use KAKU door/window or motion sensors!

KAKU sensors are designed for stand-alone solutions and by transmitting RF packets for 3 to 5 seconds they are sure that the receiver in the same room has received the command. So for stand-alone solutions they operate perfect.
In a Home Automation environment you do not want so much RF traffic because it will disturb other sensor signals and the RFXCOM transmitter will not start transmitting as long as another RF signal is present. It has no use to start because if two RF signals are present they disturb each other and no valid signal is received.
Thus if you start a transmit command on a received KAKU sensor you will experience a delay of 3 to 5 seconds.

For lighting control it is better to use the X10 MS13 motion sensor. The security door/window sensors (X10, Visonic) can be used for security and/or lighting control.
Security motion sensors cannot be used for lighting control.
