z-wave questions topic.

Post by jrkalf »

It seems to be hard for manufactorers to make manuals in dutch or english. I've gotten a set of stuff from Tane today (nothing bad about tane, he's a good supplier), but all the things are in german and they're bad at making a simple how-to without making it all messy with pictures showing devices I don't have in the manual.

I have a aeon-labs stick, a duwi remote (battery kind) and a fibaro FGS221 (dual switch).
I tried to pair them by:
1. single push on the aeonlabs
2. hold down the include button on the duwi remote
3. whip the rocker on the fibaro switch 3 times.

now I thought that would be enough to get a network setup... that kind of put me in limbo as I actually had nothing working.
Then I tried to remove everything on the network by:
1. pushing the aeonlabs button for 3 seconds putting it in a slow flashing mode
2. press the exclude button on the duwi remote
3. whip the rocker on the fibaro switch 3 times.

I then put the stick back into the server with the domotiga installation and the zwave commander still saw all nodes in the zwave network (uhm, what went wrong there).

 HELP!

I've been able to pair the aeon-labs stick and the duwi remote properly by first pressing the include button on the duwi and then single push pressing the aeon-labs stick button. They get a good pair from the reading of the leds on both devices.
Now I have to get the fibaro connected properly. As it seems both connections are seen as different devices and the only way to get them both connected properly at the same time is to use the B button (small dipswitch in the hole on the device itself). I've tried that, pressing the b button 3 times and then putting the aeon-key in learning mode, but that doesn't work. I've tired the mothod above by flipping the oldfashioned switch on the wall 3 times, but that didn't work as well.

I think I might have found an error between keyboard and chair. We're working hard on getting the error removed

I found this in the fibaro documentation pdf:

Code: Select all

WARNING!
Double Relay Switch cancels the "learning" mode
after key no. 1 is pressed once. Therefore, pressing
key no. 1 four times will not add the devices to the
network. The same applies to push-button B.

WARNING!
Double Relay Switch is set by default to operate with
mono-stable switches (i.e. single-pole switch or bell
switch). While adding Double Relay Switch to the
network with bi-stable switches, ensure that all
switch contacts are open (off), because closing them
results in activating the push-button and this will
prevent adding the device to the network.

I had trouble switching fast enough with my Fibaro.

The 3 times is very fast. Took me a while to learn, they where working fine, and I was to slow. :-)

To keep replying to myself (be free to join in with advice  )

I've just learned that the second post I did isn't true!
I have a very old rocker to turn it on and off and I kind of had to power-off the system, put the power back on. Then have the aeon-labs stick in learning mode and rock the crap out of it.

The frame seems to be made by jung, but the cover is definetly berker... but as you can see old stuff.
