HomeControlBox Needed?

Post by Noel »

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I've just had a meeting with a Xanure dealer, and he told me that I DO need a XanureHome Control Box (the HCB) :/

I was under the impression that a small dedicated server (running Homeseer) with a CTX35 interface could do the same things as a HCB (or just about).

I've told him to wait with placing the order till I was 100% convinced that he was correct.
The only place to ask is here, so.. Who is correct.. Him or me?

I know both options very well.
HCB is perfect for home control
One of the best hardware / software solutions on the market.
Power consumption is about 4 watt

Homeseer is very flexible with plugins you can do anything what you want.

Hi Chak,

But if I'll be using a dedicated server (about 600 watt) running Homeseer with a CTX35 I do not need the HCB. Is this correct?

Your dealer should really go back to school!
You don't need the Home Control Box If you choose to run Homeseer on a computer with a CTX35 or whatever.
I have the Homecontrolbox as well for testing purpose. As Chak said the HCB is a nifty device running on Linux and has it's own firmware where you can configure devices and make events etc. I see this product qualified for the big majority, if you are a freak like us and want to have everything in control then it's not the best option.
Please make next time a seperate topic update: did that [:)]
