TYTN II

Post by Willem4ever »

Hi,

I'm having problems with my TYTN II smartphone, it connects fine using built-in WIFI, get an IP address, but it doesn't get a DNS server assigned.

DCHP server is Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Server V3.0.1. Wireless is in a separate VLAN with helper address configured.

Same DHCP setup works fine for an iPod touch.

Hi Willem,

What wireless access point/wireless router are you using? I encountered the same problem with my TYTN II in combination with an (old) Netgear ME102 access point. When I switched over to my wireless Siemens ADSL modem/router (which is also my DHCP server) for wireless access, it worked flawlessly (I used the ME102 because the Siemens modem/router doesn't reach all rooms in our house). The TYTN II did connect with the Netgear ME102, but I had no Internet connectivity. I guess the TYTN II is a little selective in its wireless access (counter)parts? Try a different wireless device to see if it solves your problem, as it may not be your DHCP server...

ROM version: 1.56.405.5
ROM date: 08/28/07
Radio version: 1.27.12.11
Protocol version: 22.45.88.07W

i dont have any issues, but i have my wireless access point forward dhcp request to my own dhcp server build. (so i can also send out tftp adresses and such for my cisco phone)if you have a working dhcp for it, you can perhaps forward it like i do. (if you have that option)

Hi,

Well looking at the date it seems my ROM is a little younger 9/1 vs 8/28.

@snelvuur; I'm running my own DHCP server which provides all my devices with successfully with ip addresses, dns, pxe information etc etc.

Are you running this on an original TYTN II or e.g. MDA Vario III. I'm tempted to install the Vista version as well.
