Plugwise Homeseer Plugin

Post by RdP »

Hi,

I got the following error in HS

<br />Homeseer seems to behave differently dependent on the version of Windows it is run on. On my development PC I run Homeseer on Vista and the buttons disappear when I block state changes for a device, but on my server I run WindowsXP and there the buttons won't disappear. Also when I hit the save button in the device config screen Vista returns to the status screen, while WindowsXP stays at the configuration screen. SOmething to look into:-(

I have the same symptons as you have, but I have it on a Vista machine instead of XP. I use dutch versions of IE7.

Rien,

Wat do you experience exactly? Can you state your version of the .Net framework and Homeseer?

The buttons don't dissapear when I block state changes and also when I hit the the change button on a device it stays in the status screen. I tested this on Windows Vista NL with IE7, Windows Vista EN with IE7 and Windows server 2003 EN with IE6.

Did you do an upgrade of 2.2.0.66? The only difference between my Vista and WindowsXP, besides the OS, is that I did a upgrade from 2.2.0.66 on XP and a fresh install of 2.3.0.0 on Vista. There is definitly different behaviour between the 2 installations. In the fresh installation the Location column in the status screen is split in 2 columns, floor and room, but this can be due to the fresh database I started with. Can you do a fresh install of 2.3.0.x on a separate system to see if you also experience different behaviour?

I did a clean install of WindowsXP, .Net Framework 2.0 and HS 2.3.0.0 and known Homeseer is acting the same as on my development system. This means buttons are hidden when state changes are blocked and you are returned to the status screen when you hit the save button in the device configuration screen. The upgrade from 2.0.66 to 2.3.0.0 seems to mess up things. I will raise this issue at Homeseer. For the time being I do not know how to resolve this problem other than a fresh installation of Homeseer.

Plugwise Homeseer Plugin

Rene,

I posted this issue also in the HS forum, because it seems like a HS problem.
After playing around with this great plug-in I have the following feature reqeusts/comments

- Is it possible create a homeseer trigger for plugwise so I can use it in events. For example, this way I can 'see' if a device is in use. If my TV is reporting more the a certain power usage(more than 0) I can be sure it's turned on. Or if a device is using a cerain amount of power for a longer than hour I want to be notified. Do you get my drift ??
- Is it possible to combine you effort on graphs with RFXcharts. I know Paul is looking into incorporating other databases then the RFXCOM right now.
- Is it possible to add a HS device which is indicating total usage of all plug's (current and total)

That's it for now.

Thanks,

Rien
