you can use oregon sensors for that. See http://wiki.binkey.nl/Oregon_Scientific for a couple that can be used, there are more ofcourse.

For IR you can use the IRtrans

Looking again at the rfxcom, are you sure that it will work with a ABX1 universal remote?
Also.. Is the "433.92MHz receiver for X10 and many other protocols. With interface." one I should get?
(2nd one from the top @ http://www.rfxcom.com/receivers.htm)

And now the last question for today.
Anyone here who can point me to a good online webshop (preferably a Dutch one) where I can order my Xanura stuff.

Thank you Chak,
I found one more webshop that's offering the needed things a little bit cheaper than the shops from your links, and as it's going to be over a 500 euro order, shipping costs are free. (mn-shop.nl)

All I need to know now is if the Xanura ABX1 will work together with a rfxcom 433.92MHz receiver.

Bert can answer your question about RFXcom
I'm not sure about the secure RF options of the RFXCom.

Yes the Rfxcom receiver is able to receive the ABX1 remote in standard and secure mode.
If you want to use the ABX1 in the secured mode you must first program it to go in the RF-secured mode. With the ABX1 you can send normal non secured X10 codes or Secured X10 codes. As said both codes can be received with the RFXcom receiver however if you use like standard X10 software and plugins they only will decode the non secure X10 code from the ABX1. If you program yourself, like I do you can translate both codes (secure or non-secure).

Sample:
A5ON = hex 20609F40BF non secure
A5ON = hex 6288F84084C6 secure

So you definitely need an rfxcom receiver because it can do a whole more then receiving X10! Do you need secure X10 as well the RFIX35 is an additional option.
